Perfect for families, small groups, or couples who prefer a private and exclusive experience
PRIVATE MAUI SURF & SUP LESSONS
We are Maui’s premier ocean activity company and take great pride in offering top-rated, private tours and lessons including Outrigger Canoe and Kayak Tours, Whale Watching, Snorkeling with Turtles, Surfing lessons and Stand Up Paddle Boarding Lessons.
You can escape from the crowds and experience Maui from a local perspective. Most people come to Maui for this very reason—to really get away.
We believe everyone should learn to surf in Maui! Let us get you away from the crowds with our PRIVATE Maui Surf Lessons. Avoiding the crowded breaks used by the numerous surf schools in Kihei, Lahaina, and Kaanapali, we take you to a more secluded surf break where our surf instructors take the time to teach you how to actually surf—not just stand up on a board. We offer private surf lessons in Maui, with a maximum of 4 guests to 1 instructor ratio. (If your party has 5+ people, we’ll send a second instructor).
Our surf instructors will teach you:
FREE digital photography is included. We guarantee you’ll get up and surf in one lesson or your next surfing lesson is on us! That’s how confident we are in our instructors.
If you want to kayak and snorkel with Hawaiian green sea turtles, Maui offers great conditions year round. We offer three beautiful locations: Makena, Olowalu, and Molokini Crater. Each location provides a unique experience, and our staff can help you choose the best location for your experience, fitness level, and current ocean conditions. No experience is required! Our dedicated kayak guides will take the time to make you feel comfortable, both on and in the water, even if it is your first time kayaking or snorkeling. If you’re fit and have the experience, our guides can take it up a notch, satisfying the explorer in you.

During winter months in Maui, there are humpback whales galore! We offer two great locations for kayak whale watching: Makena or Olowalu. There is simply no better way to go whale watching in Maui than from an ocean kayak. No crowds, no engine noise or diesel fumes—just you, your kayak guide, and the humpback whales. Our private Kayak Whale Watch Tour allows you to have a once-in-a-lifetime, nature based whale watching experience. Although wildlife is highly unpredictable, sometimes the whales come to check out our kayaks, providing an up-close and personal life-changing experience!
(Federal laws prohibit any vessel or person from approaching humpback whales within 100 yards)
Stand up paddle boarding on Maui is a great way to explore Maui’s scenic coasts and bays. Choose from one of two amazing locations—Olowalu or Makena—each offering a unique experience and view of Maui. We realize that everyone comes from different backgrounds, with different fitness and comfort levels in the ocean, which is why we offer exclusive and PRIVATE Stand Up Paddle Board (SUP) Tours.
With our private tours, you will be able to stand up paddle as far and as fast as your ability allows, without feeling like you’re being held back or holding others back. Or, if you choose, just leisurely cruise around and check out numerous Hawaiian green sea turtles that swim by.
FREE digital photography included
Our stand up paddle instructors will take photos, so you can relax and enjoy your morning on the water.
Unlike our exclusive and private kayak tours, SUP and surf lessons, on our Hawaiian Outrigger Canoe Tours we do combine parties in order to fill every seat in the canoe. There are six seats in our 45-foot long Hawaiian Outrigger canoe, one for our guide and rest for the engines—that’s you! So, the more engines, the better. These tours are similar to our Maui Kayak Snorkel and Whale Watching Tours – but with more of a cultural component.
Experience Hawaiian culture firsthand as you paddle a traditional craft and hear legends of Maui from your canoe guide. You might even learn to make rope from coconut fibers just as ancient Hawaiians did to lash their canoes (or wa‘a) together. Learn about the migration of Polynesians to Hawaii from distant lands and how they not only survived—but thrived—in Hawaii prior to Western contact.
FREE digital photography included
Like our other tours, our guides will happily document the entire adventure and send you complimentary digital photos, after your Maui Outrigger Canoe Tour so you can enjoy the experience without being distracted by trying to take photos.
Experience the incredible rush as you’re surfing down waves in an outrigger canoe. Canoe surfing has occurred as long as there have been canoes on the ocean. Ancient Hawaiians surfed in canoes to teach the next generation how to feel the ocean and understand its movement.
Unlike our other tours, which are private, outrigger canoe tours and canoe surfing lessons do mix participants to fill all the seats in the canoe. This is necessary for launching and rigging the canoe, plus paddling hard enough to catch the waves.
During your surfing experience your local guide, a certified marine naturalist and lifeguard, will be steering the canoe and taking FREE digital photos for you to share with your family and friends.
Whale watching is a must if you’re lucky enough to be in Maui from December through April. Now the question is… how?
If you’re on our website, you’re looking for a more personal experience and probably won’t be satisfied crammed on a catamaran, or even larger whale watching boat, with hordes of people. On our private whale watching tours, everyone gets a front row seat to view humpback whales, without disturbing them with a loud boat engine. We’ll paddle out with you on a kayak, stand up paddle board or outrigger canoe so you can watch these gentle giants in their natural environment. With the lack of crowd and engine noise, you’ll hear them as they exhale and send a spray of water into the air, commonly referred to as “spouting.” You may see pec slaps, fluke slaps, spy hops, and whale breaches too.
We often encounter newborn calves, with their mother and escorts, where we can watch them for hours without disturbing them. Sometimes we get a real treat and have a competition pod swim by with several male humpback whales competing for a female to mate with. Every day is different when it comes to whales and the marine environment. However, you can always expect the best experience possible because you’re going with Maui’s top guides, who are safe, passionate and highly trained in all of our paddle sports tours and lessons. We are the industry leader in Maui paddle sports.
